The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development has suggested that potential states in the branded weave industry (Haute Couture) such as Terengganu should be focused on enabling the industry to grow and gain global recognition certificates.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Mohd. Redzuan Yusof said these efforts could help develop local entrepreneurs and enable them to compete with entrepreneurs from outside the country. Clearly, countries such as Vietnam, China and Bangladesh have been successful in the field of branded apparel business as they have trained workforce thus having certificates of recognition.
Additionally, entrepreneurs in the weaving industry, especially in Terengganu, have provided training schemes to help improve their skills in the field of sewing, weaving and so on. “If we want to improve our quality, we have to practice. We have today’s scheme and tailors trained to become more proficient and get certificates for branded apparel such as those found in Thailand, Vietnam, and China, he said during the inauguration of Bumiputera Entrepreneur Empowerment (KUB) at Terengganu Trade Center (TTC).
In his speech, Terengganu has seen positive and potential signs of developing in the field of entrepreneurial industry and that the advantages are not elsewhere. His ministry is also poised to provide opportunities for those in woven fields to be provided with training in the development of the Haute Couture branded clothing company. If there is no effort, fear of the weaving will become extinct, he said.
