Songket is a great legacy and has a high artistic value about the Malay community that needs to be preserved as a state treasury. It is crafted with subtlety and artistic not to be out of date. Songket function should be expanded and not limited to seasonal garments such as wedding dresses and formal ceremonies. It can also be innovated as wall ornaments, pillowcases and designed for contemporary fashion. Traditional Songket is a popular choice because it is unique and exclusive compared to songket using machine technology. However, now hand weaving is getting marginalized as songket abroad like India and Indonesia have monopolized the country songket market.

The songket industry still has high demand but because of the lack of weavers weakened because of the delicate hand-made songket progression. Hand weaving Songket is seen as extinct as it is cultivated by the elderly in the village area and becomes critical if it does not have a young coat in songket weaving. Most young people do not like to get involved in the songket industry and there are a handful of people who only learn but do not make it a career. This factor contributes to the lack of skillful songket weaver
